This intensive course is designed for yoga teachers who want to elevate their practice and empower their teaching with theory and application. It is recommended that you have significant teaching experience.

This is not a physically demanding training, and other than morning practice and practice teaching, most will be taught by lecture or hands-on training.

Upon completion, graduates will be certified to teach MIA and MIS.

Our comprehensive curriculum covers the following topics:

  • Applied Myofascial Anatomy: Exploring the myofascial system, identifying muscles and fascial connections, and understanding their roles in movement, stability, and force transmission.
  • Introduction to Myofascial Lines: Functional anatomy of the superficial front line, superficial back line, deep front lines, spiral lines, lateral lines, functional lines, and arm lines.
  • Understanding Myofascial Integrated Alignment (MIA): Principles of holistic alignment within the myofascial system and its application in the yoga practice.
  • Practical Applications: Utilizing MIA to improve functional movement, build balance, and develop strength and mobility through postures and intentional sequencing.
  • Myofascial Integrated Stretching (MIS): Exploring stretching principles and sequencing designed to enhance myofascial health, improve mobility, and increase range of motion (ROM).
  • Physiology of Stretching: Types, methods, and optimal duration for effective stretching.
  • Mechanisms and Safety of Stretching: Understanding how the nervous system, fascia, and muscles respond to stretching and implementing progressive strategies to build flexibility safely while avoiding overstretching or injury.
  • Biotensegrity Basics: Understanding how the body functions as an interconnected tensegrity system.
  • Postural Balance and Fascial Properties: Applying biotensegrity principles to achieve holistic alignment and balance in the yoga practice while incorporating key fascial properties such as elasticity, plasticity, viscoelasticity, force transmission, remodeling, adaptability, hydration, and proprioception.
  • Innovative Sequencing: Creating sequences that go beyond conventional yoga flows by integrating MIA/MIS principles, myofascial meridians, fascial properties, and creative approaches to sequencing.
  • Myofascial Assists: Techniques for providing hands-on guidance to increase tension, enhance engagement, guide movement, explore depth, promote balance, and ensure safety within myofascial lines.
  • Tuning Poses Through Myofascial Lines: Applying myofascial principles and biotensegrity to refine posture alignment and engagement while adapting poses to accommodate diverse bodies and movement limitations.
  • Becoming a Skilled Teacher: Develop the confidence and expertise to teach MIA and MIS effectively in a variety of settings. Master the art of creating safe, inclusive, and engaging learning environments for students of all levels.
